Some of you may know the basic pattern: The lithium-ion battery-powered nail is a new generation of portable electrical devices marketed by several companies under a new name. The former was known for its inability to melt the ceramic nail under heat. This problem was fixed in version 2.0, but the overall user experience was poor (I still have one that I never use*). It was hard to get the water right in the stem and it didn’t tap well. But this thing? The only time I took my camera out this week was to charge my VUBER Dabber. VUBER has completely solved the water problem, the tip now separates from the stem. Brilliant! Just fill it to a quarter and connect it to the battery. You can choose from three types of nails: titanium, quartz and ceramic. My favorite is pottery because I think it creates the most authentic flavor. You pull the trigger three times for the titanium nail and five times for the other two, then wait for it to heat up (45 seconds, less for the titanium nail). I feel like the titanium nail produces the smallest clouds – I tend to get 1 or 2 light hands from the same block that other nails would get 2 or 3. 
Here is my unbranded 2.0 sitting in a drawer until I google how to get rid of L-ion batteries. What I like most is that the same size is a small drop. The VUBER Dabber forces you to be sparing with oil because the nail is quite small, but that’s all I need with this device. I use about half the concentrate I used at the factory. On the other hand, the small nail makes cleaning difficult – the brochure recommends using a cotton swab, but you actually have to soak it in alcohol for a while and then wipe it off with a cloth. As for battery life, the brochure says you get about 16 cycles, which is about right. I had a full charge from last Thursday until today, when I used about 2-3 cans a day (more today – time for a review, yay!) It took about two hours for a full charge (via USB). Because the Dabber is a small device, it gets easily clogged and therefore needs to be cleaned regularly. That date has arrived. 
The man is delighted with the efficiency of the VUBER Dabber. You save so much concentration, it’s ridiculous. The ease with which you can fill it with water finally makes this generation truly portable. Also very important: VUBER appliances have a lifetime warranty. So if your liner breaks before the enemy hits the ground like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, you’re protected. If it happens after that, you’re probably screwed. It’s better to play it safe and buy two at a time. I don’t care if it’s a dozen! There’s bound to be a MacGyver in your Survivor clan who can do something with all those L-ion batteries.
