The Cannabis Industry Association (Cannabis Business Journal) reports that this year’s Memorial Day weekend will be the biggest sales weekend for cannabis in 2017. The report highlights the three states that will be the largest markets for cannabis sales during the holiday: California, Nevada and Colorado.

At this time of year, it’s impossible to turn on the TV or radio, open Facebook or write an email without hearing a Memorial Day advertisement. The cannabis industry is no different. The holiday weekend has historically been a day of high sales for cannabis. However, according to the BDSA, the Memorial Day weekend in 2021 will be different than in previous years and will exceed the annual growth of 2020.
Friday –Memorial Day Weekend Cannabis Sales Star
A recent BDSA report on cannabis sales over the three-day weekend predicts that Friday will be the best sales day between Thursday, Friday and Saturday for Memorial Day. So far, the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend is the biggest sales day in May, with holiday mania fueled by inhalation methods for consumption. That’s probably because there are events outside on Memorial Day weekend. Everyone is outside firing up the grill and obviously smoking a lot of weed. According to the BDSA, 50% of people drink for pleasure during the day, which fits in well with the festivities leading up to Memorial Day.
Colorado receives 25% of‘s sales on Thursdays and Sundays.
Thursday and Saturday are always busy here. The report indicates that Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be sales days in the cannabis industry, with 25% of the growth on Friday and Saturday coming from stores in Colorado. According to a report by Akerna, a business cannabis software company, recreational and medical marijuana sales will total about $238,000,000 over the four days from Friday to Memorial Day Monday. According to the report, consumers under the age of 40 will account for 61% of cannabis sales. Like the BDSA report, Akerna predicts that Friday will be the best earning day of the weekend, with $85 million. If this figure is met, sales will be 55% higher than the average sales on the Friday before Memorial Day.
Cannabis Drinks – Hot Drinks for Summer
Many are predicting an increase in the popularity of cannabis drinks by 2021. Edible products have already taken the sector by storm. Headset, a cannabis data analysis company, recently reported a 60 percent increase in supplement production in seven legal markets in the United States. That includes market share, which will rise from 10.65% in 2019 to 11.07% market share in 2020, according to headphone data analyst Cooper Ashley. Perhaps cannabis drinks will become the product of the summer, filling backyard coolers and poolside drinks all summer long.
