CultureofHealthequity.com is the ultimate guide to eating healthily and preventing illness. We tell you exactly which foods you shouldn’t eat, and which ones are completely OK. You will never have to worry about falling ill again, and you will be able to eat the foods you love most.
Throughout history, many foods have been considered taboo. In fact, some of these foods are still banned in numerous countries and cultures, and only a few are allowed in national and international diets. Although there are many foods that have been forbidden for centuries, some of these foods may have no negative effects on health, and in some cases they may even be good for you. Below we have listed 10 foods you should never eat.
It’s easy to understand why foods like alcohol, chocolate, dairy, meat, and wheat cause so many health problems. But what about foods like those that we don’t eat nearly as often? They’re surprising to people, because they may be more common than we think.
You may remember my article from last week titled 10 Foods You Should Always Eat, and today, my dear friend, I want to tell you about 10 foods that in my opinion should never, under any circumstances, be in your beautiful barrel. You may not agree with some of my decisions, and that’s fine. I highly recommend doing your own research to see what works for you. I also don’t want you to feel guilty, ashamed or blamed when you read this. You are not a bad person if you eat the foods on this list. It’s just about making you feel more informed when choosing food, so you feel like an informed buyer.
This list is based on my 10 years of experience in nutrition, health and wellness and is designed to help you feel your best every day. It’s okay if this list makes you a little angry, but approach it with an open mind and see what happens!
1. Hydrogenated vegetable oils
In my opinion, hydrogenated vegetable oils are more of a science experiment than a food. The process of adding a hydrogen molecule to monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils requires a whole list of chemicals, heavy metals, heat and processes that make the oil unrecognizable and toxic to your cells.
Hydrogenated vegetable oils don’t spoil on the shelf – and the fact that they don’t break down naturally means your body has a hard time breaking them down. Make no mistake: these foods are NOT good for your heart. Avoid them at all costs.
Substitutes : Oils like coconut oil, cocoa butter, extra virgin olive oil (from Greece or Italy to make sure no other oils have been added) and even organic, grass-fed oils are better for your body because they are recognized as food.
2. Processed vegetable oils
Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, such as corn, rapeseed and vegetable oils, have carbon molecules without a hydrogen atom attached. This makes them readily available to react with other molecules in the environment, such as. B. with free radicals, light, heat and air. These oils are already rancid by the time they hit store shelves, as they are highly susceptible to degradation – the process of extracting and bottling the plant is virtually impossible without causing damage. These oils are deodorized and chemically treated so they don’t smell or seem rancid, but they are.
Substitutes : Choose rich, natural oils like coconut oil and cocoa butter or use whole food forms of fats like nuts, seeds, nut and seed oils, avocados and olives. Trust me, you will get used to living without liquid oil!
3. Conventional dairy products
Normal dairy cows are artificially fertilized for years to make them produce milk. They are mammals like humans, which means they only produce milk when they have a calf to feed. They are pumped full of hormones, antibiotics and other drugs to maintain milk production and prevent the diseases and infections to which their condition makes them susceptible.
Conventional dairy products are also highly acidic to the body due to the processing they undergo to become suitable for consumption. The acidic nature of milk means that it removes calcium and other alkaline minerals from your body, when your body should remain alkaline. When you eat acidic foods, your body uses the alkaline stores in your bones and teeth to neutralize the acid, resulting in a net loss of calcium from your body. In general, milk in its current state is not good for the body.
Substitutes : Opt for plant-based milks like almond or coconut milk, organic goat’s milk and even organic cow’s milk – just make sure you visit the farm and know exactly how the cows are fed and treated.
4. White flour
White flour is absolutely devoid of nutrients, even when enriched. When white flour is processed, the germ and bran are removed and only the endosperm remains. Nutritious oils are in the bran and most vitamins and minerals are in the germ. When these two components are processed, essentially only the starch remains.
This starch is then bleached, further reducing its nutritional value. You end up with a substance in your body that turns into paper gum, is very acidic, and provides no nutrients to your body. The synthetic vitamins added to enriched flour are not used by the body as effectively as the natural vitamins and minerals that would be present in the plant if it had not been processed in any way.
Substitutes : Whole wheat flour! Choose whole wheat, spelt, rye and oats. You can even try sprouted grain products and gluten-free foods – just make sure your gluten-free products don’t contain refined grains.
5. Processed products with low fat content
When you see the words low-fat or fat-free on processed or packaged foods (this does NOT apply to foods that are naturally low-fat, such as fruits and vegetables), you can assume that these foods contain many chemicals, additives and preservatives and have undergone several processing steps. These foods are not recognized by the body as food and will not help reduce your waistline. You let your body recycle the chemicals and look for what’s left in the item. The bottom line is that these foods are just not worth your body.
Substitutes : Again: Choose whole foods. If you want to reduce your fat intake, start by eating more natural, low-fat foods, such as whole fruits and vegetables. Or just eat natural fats like nuts, seeds, avocados and coconut, because your body recognizes these fats and uses them to build a healthy body.
6. aspartame
Aspartame is a known neurotoxin. This means that it literally poisons your brain if you consume it. When aspartame is destroyed by heat, it becomes even more toxic, and most products containing aspartame have been heated during cooking or improper storage. It’s hidden in all sorts of foods, including those labeled sugar-free. Aspartame can bioaccumulate in the body and cause damage over time. In short, never eat aspartame.
Substitutes : Natural sweeteners! Opt for naturally sweet foods with fruit, maple syrup, dates and coconut sugar.
7. Processed sausage meat/hotdogs
Processed meat is not real meat. They are meat in the sense that they contain meat as an ingredient, but they also contain something that is NOT meat. The sodium content of salted meat and other processed meat is very high, which is not good for the heart. They are also full of chemicals that are harmful to your health. Nitrates are the main representatives of the deranged chemicals lurking in cut meats, and they are known carcinogens. Conclusion: If you must eat meat, choose 100% meat, not a mixture of meat, meaty ingredients and ingredients that don’t look like meat at all.
Substitutes : Go for the real thing! If you include meat in your diet, look for organic, grass-fed/natural, non-GMO animals that have been treated with love and respect.
8. Soda
To me, lemonade is liquid poison. It consists mostly of lab-made chemicals and is sweetened with fructose corn syrup, which as we know is an empty calorie, meaning it provides calories without nutrients. The sugar content of soft drinks and the lack of fiber, which normally slows the release of sugar into the bloodstream, cause blood sugar levels to spike. This forces the liver and pancreas to work very hard to get these sugars from the bloodstream into the cells.
Then your blood sugar will drop sharply, which can cause headaches, dizziness or nausea, and a craving for another sugar concentrate.
Soda is very acidic, which means your body has to use the alkaline minerals in your bones and teeth to keep your blood PH slightly alkaline. And sugar-free sodas aren’t any better: the artificial sugar in calorie-free sodas actually causes your brain to search for sugar, which means you’ll eat more throughout the day than if you just drank a regular soda with regular sugar.
Substitutes : If you’re in the mood for something fizzy, go for kombucha, a naturally fermented tea drink. Tea, fresh fruit juices and water also help to keep your body hydrated.
9. Baked products
Oil heated to the temperature needed to deep fry is essentially rancid oil. Their chemical structure changes and denaturation occurs when they are exposed to high temperatures. Add to that the coagulation of proteins and the denaturation of nutrients in the fried food itself, and you have a food-like substance that draws nutrients from your body rather than releasing them. Fried food is something you should honestly never eat. Fried foods contain fats called trans fatty acids, which are now known to be the most dangerous for your health. These fats are oxidized fats that literally cause cell damage and lead to heart disease.
Substitutes : Cook the chips and fries. Cooking, frying, steaming or roasting meat. Fry in a pan, not a deep fryer. Use stable fats, such as. B. Coconut oil, if you want to cook on high heat. But don’t fry it.
10. Genetically modified maize
Three things you need to know: 1) Corn is a grain, not a vegetable. 2) Humans don’t have the digestive enzymes to completely break down corn, which means it passes through the digestive tract virtually unchanged. 3) GMO corn has been modified at the cellular level to contain pesticides – meaning the chemicals are not just on the surface, but part of the genetic makeup of the corn.
This is all very bad for your body. Combine that with the fact that GMO corn is hidden in almost all processed foods, and your current diet may consist primarily of GMO corn products. For example, most sandwiches in fast food restaurants are 70-80% KORN! Not even the grain! I encourage you to read the labels and see how much corn you are currently consuming. You now know that it contains little or no nutrients for your body.
Replacement: Eat unprocessed bread and cereal products and choose real vegetables if you’re looking for a side dish.
What’s your opinion? Do you believe that everything is good in moderation, or do you think there are certain foods that really should never enter your body? What other foods do you think should be on this list, or which ones should not? I’d love to know what you think! Many people believe that eating lots of fruit and vegetables, along with other healthy choices like whole grains, fish, and low fat dairy products, will help them stay healthy and fight off disease. But there’s a lot of conflicting information about which foods are truly good for you. A recent article on the Today Show analyzed the diets of various people and found that some people eat a lot of plant-based foods and don’t seem to get sick often, while others eat more processed food and don’t seem to be any healthier. What you eat can have a big impact on your health and it’s important to know which foods to eat in order to stay healthy.. Read more about 10 foods you should eat and let us know what you think.
